I’ve got my mother staying with me at the moment who constantly reminds me of the saying “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”
I love my mother dearly- she has a chronic sugar addiction and despite having type 2 diabetes and a kidney removed because of cancer can’t stop consuming sugar. I am the annoying daughter always trying to persuade her of the benefits of juicing, raw food and exercise. It was very frustrating at first to have my all my suggestions rebuffed and food suggestions grimaced at but everyone has their own path and all you can do is try to inform and hope that one day the person you love will make the choice themselves. So I’m rambling but I made my mum this juice today- I’m calling it “the pink lady”- she grimaced but did drink it! I promise it’s actually very delicious if you like vegetables
2 beetroot
3 carrots
1 sweet potato
2 apples
2 red peppers
Special ingredient love ❤
Beetroot is rich in potassium, antioxidants, and folic acid and has been found to lower blood pressure –
It’s also an amazing boost to the muscles during hi density exercise. I took a shot before running the marathon, did it help? Well I can’t say as I haven’t run one without taking it but I certainly felt strong during the race and recovery afterwards was fine.
The science behind beetroots effect on the muscles is based around a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in 2009 – in essence that drinking 500 ml of beetroot juice before exercise improved stamina
